How many doses of Ivermectin can I take?
Ok I'm treating myself with Ivermectin for scabies because I cant get Permethrin (Eliminite) I took 6mg once but then found out I had to take 12mg for my bodyweight! Is it safe to take 12mg 2 weeks later? I think I've had a weak liver lately.

Ivermectin for scabies?
I was diagnosed with scabies a few weeks ago. I have done two permethrin treatments, a week apart. It has been a week and a half since my last permethrin treatment and I noticed a few new spots and was itching like crazy last night. I called my doctor and she prescribed Ivermectin. Has anyone ever taken this? What are the side effects? Does is really help get rid of scabies? Any info would be helpful. Thanks for reading.

Yes Ivermectin is a common treatment for scabies. It is usually about as effective as permethrin cream and is more effective in certain types of infections. The most common side effect is itchiness but most people dont have any side effects.

My dog has mange. My vet told me to give my dog ivermectin. I have been getting hives since giving my dog this medication. My vet doesn't believe that I'm having an allergic reaction to the medication.

You sould see a doctor to make sure, it is the dogs

Just to be safe.

ivermectin is an anti-parasite medication. It causes the death of certain parasitic organisms in the body and is used to treat infections caused by them.

Scabies is hard to get rid of

Permethrin and ivermectin will usually work and kill the mites but its hard to avoid re-infection

Homeopathic "treatments" will do absolutely nothing

"It is important that all members of your household, and any close contacts (including recent sexual partners) are treated at the same time as you, even if they do not have symptoms. Otherwise, re-infection could occur."

What is the best medicine to cure STRONGYLES in the blood?
My blood test was positive with STRONGYLES. I used zentel for one month and ivermectin in three doses but I still have fever and itch.

Stronglyes are roundworms. They're one of the most common parasites in the US and other developed countries.

Has your doc done a fecal culture, or just the blood test? If the fecal hasn't been done, it may be another strongylid species that may require another medication. Ivermectin is usually effective on all species, but there are other options. Time to call your doctor back.

Good luck!

Has anyone had experience in taking Ivermectin or in dealing with follicular mites?
We can't find a dermatologist in New York City who knows how to identify follicular mites - or how to
treat them. Disappointing that the dermatologists we have experienced only seem to understand
cosmetic problems...We're also looking for a physician experienced in dealing with these internal
bugs. Anyone have a great doctor?

Demodex folliculorum has been mentioned as an aggravating factor to rosaceans for many decades and yet, I have not seen any formal double blind study done on this front. (This supports the wisdom of independent research funding by rosaceans). As you have presented, articles have been published, reporting individuals (a number of whom are immunocompromised) who responded to rx of demodex. The rx’s were not cures but nevertheless, afforded some form of control to otherwise refractory situations. I do not think your hypothesis is without merit. As a matter of fact, at the end of this message, I have copied an article reporting a case rx’d successfully with oral Ivermectin & topical Permethrin. Months ago, I sent a copy of this article to a group member with very resistant case of folliculitis.
However, I’m not sure that it is wise to have someone self- treat without the supervision of an attending physician. Luckily, here in the U.S., 5% Permethrin (Elimite Cream) is only available by prescription. I have given this topical medication to many patients for scabies but not for rosacea. Other than a few cases of contact or irritant dermatitis, I have not seen any serious side effects. However, my patients have only used it no more than 2-3 times at most. I don’t know what the side effects of long-term use are; considering the hypersensitivity, easier penetrability (hence, increased absorption) and vascular lability of inflamed rosacean skin. I personally believe demodex mites are incidental parasites that prey on compromised skin causing secondary symptoms, not unlike bacteria & fungi. They are not the primary cause of rosacea. Therefore, I suspect that not all rosaceans have demodex as a relevant factor.

Dosage of Ivermectin (oral) for parakeet with Scaly Face?
For sure it has Scaly Face and I read about using it oral, but no where can I find the oral dosage.

The dose of Ivermectin is 1 ml per 50 kg body weight as s/c injection. For oral administration the dose IS 2.5ml per 50kg.
Estimate the weight of your parakeet and give the dose accordingly. For injection you have to use a sterile normal saline or distilled water for dilution. Not necessarily in drench.
